Another topic that was the focus of the article was comparing the insurance system in america to other countries particularly the Netherlands. I have found that Socialization of systems by the government sound like a perfect system in theory. However, it is quite the contrary when it come to reality it is run by humans and unfortunately not humans are 100% honest and many take advantage of the system and benefit from the labor of others. There is no incentive to work harder if everyone gets the exact same thing. There will be those who work harder than the rest and those who work less than the rest and unfortunately there is no middle ground in a socialized system that is why a privatized system is the best route. It provides competition which lowers prices and increases the quality of services provided.

Week 9 reflection
Later life is the stage where most of us finally reflect back on life. This is either positive or negative based on what we have accomplished in our life. When we have made poor choices throughout our lives we often think about things that could have been. Thinking about what if situations what if I had gone to college, what if I did not drop out of school, or what if we were still together. The negative events that we focus on can negatively impact us in later life often bringing depression or strong feelings of regret and remorse. Or this time of reflection can be positive if the person has had a "successful" life and has accomplish much of what they desired to do.

I think the thing that scares me the most is going to be my reflection period. No wonder all my geriatric patients tell me not to get older. No only are health problems kicking in so can regret. I dont want to get old.
ReplyDeleteLater life can definitely be a scary time, like dayna said health problems begin to kick in and we start to reflect on our lives. I hope that when I reach that stage of life I am able to focus on the positive things I did throughout my life rather than dwell on the negatives.
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about education ourselves on this topic is that we now have some insight on how we can prevent ourselves from regreting our pasts and deteriorating in health! I feel like dreading our later years increases our chances of the very thing we dont want to experience. Psychologists have mentioned that some of the best years of our lives can be experienced in our fifties if we set realistic goals leading up to it.
